Tyax Lodge Wedding Photographer | BC Mountain Weddings

One of the things I love about Tyax Lodge is its location. The South Chilcotin Mountains have a completely different feel from the coastal mountains around Squamish and Whistler. The landscape opens up, the mountains seem to stretch forever, and Tyaughton Lake sits right outside the lodge. It's an incredible part of British Columbia, with so much to explore right on your doorstep.

For anyone who enjoys getting outside, there's no shortage of things to do. The area has some incredible hiking and mountain biking, with miles of trails winding through forests, alpine meadows and backcountry terrain. There's also plenty of opportunity to get out on the lake, whether that's paddling, fishing or just spending an afternoon by the water. And if a little downtime is more your speed, the lodge has a great spa, comfortable accommodations and everything you need to settle in for a few days.

For couples planning a destination wedding in BC, I think this is what makes Tyax so appealing. Having everyone stay together in one place, with so much to explore and enjoy, turns the wedding into a proper weekend away. The lodge, the food, the hospitality and the surrounding landscape all come together to make it a pretty special experience.

From a photography perspective, it's an incredible place to work. Between the lake, the forests and the surrounding mountains, there's so much variety without having to go far. I love being able to incorporate the landscape into the photographs and give couples something that really captures the place they chose to get married.
